Honoring milestones in their VCU careers – from the five-year mark to an amazing 60-year tenure – the university's 52nd annual Service Recognition Celebration highlighted more than 2,800 Virginia Commonwealth University and VCU Health employees whose dedication powers the academic and health sciences communities.

Among those reaching milestones in 2024, 1,330 were cited for completing five years of service, and more than 550 others reached the decade mark.

VCU President Michael Rao, Ph.D., who himself was celebrating his 15-year milestone at the university, emphasized how care and dedication are common throughout the faculty and staff at VCU, and that the university owes its success to them.

"Every year, VCU gets better at what it does because we improve this institution every single year," Rao told the audience. "And that happens again because of you. I’m so grateful to all of you."

"I want to take a moment to recognize individuals within our community celebrating service milestones," Dean K.C. Ogbonna, Pharm.D., M.S.H.A., shared with the School of Pharmacy community ahead of the ceremony last month. "In a constantly evolving environment, it is important to recognize those that have consistently contributed to VCU's mission and the School of Pharmacy - year over year. The individuals listed below have eclipsed the 5 year mark here at VCU with two members of our community notching more than 35 years of service!"
