P3 student Erika Nixon-Lambert was selected as VCU's graduate student speaker for the university's Second Annual Sankofa Pinning Ceremony last Saturday. There, she shared her journey to pharmacy school and her experience in student leadership within the School of Pharmacy. Nixon-Lambert serves as president of both VCU's chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma, the national pharmacy leadership society, and VCU's Black Student Pharmacist Organization.

The Sankofa Pinning Ceremony offers students, alumni and the VCU community a chance to gather to celebrate remembrance, reflection and growth. The event, hosted by VCU's Black Student Union, draws inspiration from the African diaspora and showcases alumni and students' commitment to creating a supportive environment at VCU.

"The Sankofa Pinning Ceremony is an event that every undergraduate and graduate student should attend to gather and reflect on remembrance and growth," Nixon-Lambert said. "It was a great experience for me to share my journey as a nontraditional pharmacy student and to get inspiration from other speakers to remember to continue to give back."

Thank you for sharing your experience, and congratulations, Erika!
