PharTech provides information technology services and support to faculty, staff and students.

PharTech Services

  • Desktop support and endpoint management: Ensuring seamless operation and maintenance of all technology devices for faculty, staff and students
  • Classroom support and instructional technology: Enhancing the learning experience with innovative technological solutions
  • Application and database development: Crafting robust applications for admissions, operations, and tools to support our students, faculty, and staff, improving our enrollment process and overall experience
  • Network and infrastructure support and security: Maintaining a secure and reliable technological backbone

PharTech offers limited support for personal computers, including troubleshooting VCU-related software and assistance with connecting to VCU infrastructure (such as wireless and networking). For hardware repairs or issues beyond software troubleshooting, we can help facilitate a handoff to RamTech (fees may apply) or the VCU IT Support Center for further assistance.

Computer Requirements

All students are required to have a laptop with the following minimum requirements:

  • Computer type: PC Under warranty or Mac (M1 or higher) with AppleCare warranty
  • Operating system: PC - Windows 11; Mac - MacOS 13 (Ventura) or higher
  • Processor: Minimum - Intel i5, Preferred - Intel i7
  • Memory: Minimum - 8GB, Preferred - 16GB

The following adapters are recommended for docking laptops in our computer labs, classrooms and conference rooms or for accessing our university network over a hardwired (Ethernet) connection:

  • USB-C to Ethernet adapter
  • USB-C to HDMI adapter
  • USB Type C to USB Type A adapter
