Betsy Wheeler
Betsy Wheeler joined VCU in January 2026 as associate director for development for the School of Pharmacy. She brings more than 13 years of experience in nonprofit management and fund development within higher education.
Prior to VCU, Wheeler served as ROTC campus director for Cru at Texas A&M University (2013–2017) and Virginia Tech (2017–2025), supporting senior military colleges in their efforts to develop future military officers. In these roles, she led development efforts for multiple local chapters, coached new and junior fundraisers, mentored student leaders, and oversaw global experiences for students and faculty. Earlier in her career, she worked for Salem Web Network in Richmond.
Wheeler is a native Richmonder and earned a B.A. in biblical studies from Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 2006.
