Benjamin Van Tassell, Pharm.D., is a pharmacist and tenured professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy & Outcomes Science. His research, teaching, and clinical practice focus on cardiovascular disease. He currently serves as vice-chair for research in the Department of Pharmacotherapy & Outcomes Science and maintains clinical certifications as a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and American Society of Hypertension Certified Hypertension Clinician (ASH-CHC). 

Van Tassell's research explores the translation of pre-clinical research into proof-of-concept and early-stage human clinical trials for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. His research group has conducted >30 clinical trials and has been continuously NIH-funded since 2010. His current research focuses on the role of inflammatory signaling in acute myocardial infarction and chronic heart failure.
