Department of Pharmaceutics

Laxman Subedi, Ph.D., is a pharmaceutical scientist and drug delivery researcher with a specialization in nanomedicine, advanced drug delivery technologies, pharmaceutical formulation and translational drug research. His research work is focused on the development of new formulations and nanocarriers to overcome problems such as poor solubility, low permeability, low bioavailability and systemic toxicity.

Subedi is a researcher with extensive experience in oral drug delivery, nanoemulsions and nanocarriers, targeted drug delivery, cancer nanomedicine, metronomic chemotherapy and combination therapy. His recent work at Mokpo National University has been on the development and characterization of nanocarrier systems for anticancer agents including docetaxel, atorvastatin, oxaliplatin and pemetrexed. His work is focused on how advanced formulations can enhance drug absorption, intracellular delivery, therapeutic efficacy and treatment outcome.

He is also expertised in nanocarrier-based delivery of difficult peptide therapeutics, including teriparatide and liraglutide, and wider applications in cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity, fungal infections and neurodegenerative diseases.

His technical skills include nanoemulsion, SNEDDS development, solubility enhancement, formulation optimization, physicochemical characterization, drug-release and permeability studies, cellular uptake, chromatographic and mass-spectrometric analysis, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies. He has experience in correlating properties of formulation with biological performance using in-vitro and preclinical studies.

Subedi aims to develop next generation drug delivery technologies in the long term for improving therapeutic efficacy, overcoming biological barriers and reducing systemic toxicity. His research interests are in the areas of cancer nanomedicine, targeted and stimuli-responsive delivery, immunochemotherapy, ferroptosis based therapies, peptide delivery and advanced pharmaceutical formulations.
