Evan Sisson, Pharm.D., is a professor and certified diabetes care and education specialist at VCU School of Pharmacy where he teaches pharmacy, nursing and medical students about drug therapy for hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes. In the VCU Health interprofessional NP/Pharm.D. Complex Diabetes clinic, Sisson provides direct patient care and co-manages drug therapy under a collaborative practice agreement with a nurse practitioner and university endocrinologists. In addition to direct patient care, he also provides pharmacist leadership as the assistant director of the Center for Pharmacy Practice Innovation and Department vice-chair for Practice and Service.
Sisson is a Master Trainer Select and has trained over 500 Diabetes Prevention Program lifestyle coaches since 2019. He is a past member of the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES) Board of Directors and a regular contributor to ADCES publications including ADCES’s Quick Guide to Medications, ADCES's Review Guide for the Certified Diabetes Educator Exam and the diabetes pharmacotherapy chapter in the ADCES’s Art and Science of Diabetes Self-management Education.
