Dave Dixon, Pharm.D., is the Nancy and Ronald McFarlane Professor of Pharmacy and Chair of the Department of Pharmacotherapy & Outcomes Science. He is also a professor of internal medicine in the Division of Cardiology in the School of Medicine. He provides clinical pharmacy services in preventive cardiology at VCU Health.
Dixon's research interests include cardiometabolic disease, guideline adherence and implementation, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and pharmacist interventions to improve the management of cardiovascular risk factors. He served as director of the school's Center for Pharmacy Practice Innovation from 2016 to 2021 and remains a core faculty member. He has published over 160 peer-reviewed publications and has served on multiple writing committees for clinical practice guidelines and scientific statements for the American College of Cardiology and the National Lipid Association. Dixon is an associate editor for the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association and the Journal of Clinical Lipidology. He is a fellow of the American Heart Association, National Lipid Association, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and American College of Cardiology.
