Dave Dixon, Pharm.D., is the Nancy and Ronald McFarlane Professor of Pharmacy and Chair of the Department of Pharmacotherapy & Outcomes Science. He is also a professor of internal medicine in the Division of Cardiology in the School of Medicine. He provides clinical pharmacy services in preventive cardiology at VCU Health.

Dixon's research interests include lipid disorders, hypertension, cardio-kidney-metabolic syndrome, guideline adherence and implementation, and pharmacist interventions to improve the management of cardiovascular risk factors. He served as director of the school's Center for Pharmacy Practice Innovation from 2016 to 2021 and remains a core faculty member. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed publications and has served on multiple writing committees for clinical practice guidelines and scientific statements for the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, and the National Lipid Association. Dixon is a deputy editor for the Journal of Clinical Lipidology and an editorial board member for Pharmacotherapy. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the American Heart Association, and the National Lipid Association.
