Federica Carnamucio, Ph.D.linkedin
Federica Carnamucio, Ph.D., is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), specializing in nanopharmaceuticals for lung cancer treatments. Her academic journey began with a background in chemistry, focusing on analytical chemistry during her M.S. studies and Ph.D. program at the University of Messina, Italy. To further enhance her skills, she spent a year as a visiting scholar at VCU under the mentorship of Sandro da Rocha, Ph.D., where she developed nanochemotherapies for localized lung cancer treatment. Currently, Carnamucio leads research efforts aimed at modulating the tumor microenvironment of osteosarcoma lung metastases using nano chemo-immunotherapies. Carnamucio's career is also marked by significant industrial experience in Italy, where she honed her expertise in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), mass spectrometry (MS), and other analytical techniques. Her contributions to science include speciation studies on the interactions between biomolecules and metal ions, as well as thermodynamic investigations in nanopharmaceuticals.
