Mary Kate Brogan
Mary Kate Brogan, director of communications, leads the school’s communications and marketing operations. She joined VCU School of Pharmacy in 2023 after serving as a senior PR specialist in VCU Public Relations. There, she managed external communications and media relations for VCU’s College of Humanities and Sciences, L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, School of Education and School of Social Work.
She began working at VCU in September 2019, working as a PR specialist with our health sciences schools, including the School of Pharmacy. Her communications work at VCU has earned her numerous honors, including the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Richmond Chapter's 2022 Rising Star Award.
Mary Kate has a background in higher education marketing and communications, developing web content to support student recruitment at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Before entering higher education communications, she worked as an editor and designer at Daily Press and The Roanoke Times, producing the print newspapers' sports, features and news sections while managing their websites and social media channels.
She earned her bachelor's in journalism at Elon University in North Carolina after growing up in La Grange, Illinois, and has now spent more than a decade calling Virginia home. She adores sipping loose leaf tea, spending time with a good book alongside her cats, Stella and Ozzie, and helping share the stories of success of our School of Pharmacy community.
