Innovative Programs
Our degree and training programs, from entry-level to the doctorate and professional level, serve more than 400 students every year. Our school is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), ensuring the highest standards of academic excellence. Our Pharm.D. program’s four-day class schedule is one example of how we innovate to put our students, employees and community first.
Premier Health Sciences Campus
VCU Pharmacy is part of a premier health sciences campus anchored by VCU Health, an academic medical center that is consistently ranked among the top health systems in Virginia by U.S. News and World Report. Our environment fosters rich, interdisciplinary collaboration and offers unparalleled resources and opportunities for our students and faculty.
State-of-the-Art Spaces
Laboratories, classrooms, offices and student spaces span more than 50,000 square feet across three buildings—the Robert Smith Blackwell Building, Bio+Tech One and the Health Sciences Research Building and Annex. Our student and research-centered spaces include sterile and nonsterile compounding laboratories, advanced laboratory technologies and equipment and smart-enabled classrooms that bring our Richmond and Inova-based students together in real-time.
Nationally Recognized Research Faculty
We lead groundbreaking advancements in drug delivery, drug discovery, drug optimization, care delivery, patient outcomes and pharmacy education. Pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in health care, our discoveries have led to numerous invention disclosures, patents and inventions on the market, while our collaborations with the community have resulted in far-reaching community health initiatives. Our school is consistently ranked in the top 20 National Institutes of Health-funded pharmacy schools.
Comprehensive Support for Research and Innovation
We offer comprehensive support for research and innovation through our Office of Research and Graduate Studies, including administrative assistance for grant preparation and management, as well as mentoring and professional development opportunities through our Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs.
Inclusive Culture and Community
With inclusion and belonging at the center of our values, our school fosters a culture of care through intentional opportunities for connection and collaboration. With notable achievements and a prestigious reputation, our school has a familial culture that focuses on how to best support and serve the students, employees and community to create a positive impact.
Richmond is our Center
People love this city. And Virginia Commonwealth University is in the middle of it all. VCU is at the center of a vibrant community of 1.2 million people that is a top destination for creative thinkers and entrepreneurs, foodies and artists, and nonprofit and government leaders.
Northern VA's Only Pharmacy School Campus
We are the only pharmacy school with a campus in Northern Virginia. Students in our Pharm.D. program can choose to study during their third and fourth years at our satellite campus in Fairfax, Virginia, in partnership with the INOVA Health System.
