Each academic year, VCU School of Pharmacy's Inova Campus enrolls up to 24 students who choose to complete their final two years (P3 and P4) on the campus of Inova Fairfax Hospital. The Inova Campus' commitment to patient care, research and education, combined with a long tradition of excellence on VCU's Medical College of Virginia Campus, provides an exceptional learning opportunity.
Students assigned to the Inova Campus for P3 and P4 year are provided the following services:
- Recreation: Convenient access to fitness recreation facility with various services and programs for healthy living
- Student Health: Healthcare services and coverage through a private practice group
- Counseling: Counseling and Psychological services to promote students' successful academic progress and personal adjustment
- Mental Health: Basic mental health services including psychiatric evaluation, counseling, psychotherapy, and medication management
The VCU School of Pharmacy Inova Campus is located at Inova Fairfax Medical Center (IFMC). This location affords students the opportunity to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse patient population and participate on the front line of world-class health care services.
The proximity to our nation's capital also allows students to take advantage of a wide array of career and networking opportunities with many professional organizations including AACP (American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy), APhA (American Pharmacists Association), ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists), as well as FDA, NIH and USP (United States Pharmacopeia)—all headquartered in metro Washington, D.C. VCU School of Pharmacy Inova Campus students have the best of both worlds. Using real-time interactive videoconferencing technologies, students can stay connected to both educational and student activities on the MCV Campus in Richmond.
The VCU Inova campus is dedicated not only to providing students with the high-quality education they expect but also to preparing them for the real-world application of their practice, from experiential education rotations to graduation and beyond. All classes are broadcast, recorded live and available to view anytime on Canvas. Smaller class size translates to a great faculty-to-student ratio.
